Osteopathy for babies and children

The birth of a baby is a tremendous process, prepared by both the pregnant women and the new born. Indeed some little movements of bones of the baby cranium allow a normally non traumatic pathway through the mother's pelvis. His bones overlapped on differents places helped by the action of the membranes called fontannelles. This is helping to reduce the diameter of the head and helping the delivery.

However, labour and deliveries create some tensions which will stay there and created soon or later some troubles. V. Fryman (DO Md) discovered, based on her huge experience that at least 80% of all new borns present some cranial lesions. Difficult birth using forceps, ventous, induction, breech or even more c-section are main indications for an osteopathic check-up!

The osteopath will observe and feel the cranium of your baby and will detect the tensions and assymetries.

He will then release, and relax the tissues using gentle massages and hands-on techniques on specific areas of his body.

The osteopathic treatment for the new-born is never painfull. Most of the time the baby will enjoy it and feel relax while he is treated. They often take a very long sleep after that. Don't forget to feed him! We can easely understand that it must quite nice not having anymore tensions in our head...

The osteopathic treatment will also enhanced his immune system, and his healing capacities.

When should I visit an osteopath for my baby?

Again, an osteopathic treatment for a baby is smooth and painless, and the earlier he is seen the better it is. Basically your baby can be seen since his first weeks!
