Osteopathy is not an orthopedic speciality, and not a pathology of the bones. It means we are using the bones to enter the body function...it is a manual medicine based on a health maintenance concep, and is treating the body as a all.
The osteopath will test the dysfunctions of the mobility of your tissues and will give back their mobility.
All the structures of your body are linked together: articulations, muscles, bones fascias, organs, cranium.... They all play an important function in the regulation of the physiology of your body (called homeostasie), and if these relations are altered, pain and other symptoms can occur...

Once the osteopath has found the restrictions with his observation and palpatory listening tests, he will treat the body in the different places where it needs "help" to regain energy and vitality.
How?
We use different techniques to treat the restrictions of mobility discovered :
- Muscular and ligamentar techniques (soft tissue work, stretchings, isometric contractions, massages).
- Articular techniques, on peripheral joints and vertebral joints (with direct or indirect manipulations).
- Functional techniques : Work on all the components of the joint (os, ligaments, capsules, muscles, nerves).
- Cranio-sacral techniques: work on the bones of the cranium, in balnce with the sacrum.
- Visceral techniques : work on articulations between the organs.
Each technique is choosen and adapted to the patient's needs.
